Originally from the East Coast, I now reside in sunny California with my husband and daughter. I am a high school English teacher who moonlights as a fantasy writer (for now). I have always loved reading and writing. I devoured The Lord of the Rings at an early age and was there (in costume) for the midnight release parties of Harry Potter. I fell in love with dragons and fierce female protagonists when I read Anne McCaffery’s The Dragonriders of Pern.
I admire the high epic fantasy series of literary greats like Brandon Sanderson, Patrick Rothfuss, Tad Williams, and Robert Jordan. While I aspire to their level of worldbuilding, I find my own writing to be a bit lighter and to have a little more romance. After all, Pride and Prejudice is also one of my favorite books.

A little more about me:
I have BA in English (and French) from Vanderbilt University and a MA in English from Saint Louis University. I had the chance to study abroad in Aix-en-Provence while at Vandy and then chose to complete my MA at SLU’s international campus in Madid, Spain.
I wrote my thesis on identity in the context of civil war using works by Faulkner and Hemingway.
After finishing my MA, I became a High School English Teacher who dreamed of writing. I swore every year I would dedicate my summer to writing, but when summers came, there was always too much to do. Too many things to see and people to meet and life to be lived.
Those things are all still true, but that desire to write has finally demanded that I stop, sit still for a moment, and actually write down the stories swirling around in my head. So, here we are. Join me on my journey as I write down the first of many ideas and try to get my first book published.
